“Quiet little hidden treasure” May 30, 2011 | Trip Type : Couple If you wanna escape backpackers and shops in Goa this is the place to be. Would highly recommend a 3 night stay to relax and just be. Wild life outside your door step, excellent food ( yes more pricy than other places but still cheap) and service. Close to the airport. More then 3 days stay you will be bored. Hotel could have had a spa and maybe a tennis court on the undevelope area. Bring your running shoes for some excercise but be aware of falling coconuts! They need to update their pictures online because the hotel looks so much better in real life. “Value for money, good service, away from main city” May 30, 2011 | Trip Type : Family I found the stay to be very comfortable, the staff to be friendly and service to be good. I would recommend to all travellers. The only thing to watch for is that it is away from main city and attractions, but the hotel staff provides complimentary pickup and drop tomost places. “A breathtaking place” May 8, 2011 | Trip Type : With Friends Even the way to devasthali from the airport is beautiful, serene and mystic, just like the resort itself. The staff, hospitality, ambience, location and the food are all just perfect for a splendid holiday. There is hollant beach, only a walk away, which is a quiet but lovely beach. Also, there is bogmarlo beach, a two minute drive away which, in addition to the scenic beauty, also as a casino and a number of eating shacks. Devasthali offers all the facilities of a five star hotel like fine dining and wonderful ambience, Excellent room service, wi fi facility etc. And at the same time, the resort gives the feel of being near nature and of a calm and quiet environment. The location of the resort seems perfect with the beautiful stream running down behind the resort and coconut trees all around. I am sure that a goa trip would be more memorable staying at devasthali. “Spacious rooms, great food, friendly and helpful staff! great place!” May 3, 2011 | Trip Type : Couple I stayed here with my boyfriend for a week and we loved this place! The rooms are big and spacious, the staff always are offering to clean your room and are so helpful... the restaurant is very professional but the waiters are also friendly, we had a couple of games of pool with them on our last night which was nice! Great food (we didn't realise it was included with our room price at first!!)... very clean hotel, and great location just 5/10 mins from the airport. Would definitely recommend! Our only problem was that the air con wasn't really cold enough, and neither was the fridge, but otherwise it was great! “It is the best stay in the lap of nature.” Apr 28, 2011 | Trip Type : Business It was my one of best stays in the lap of nature. the whole experience was very soothing, with stream of water flowing on backside of the rooms. The ambient is very cool and soothing. It is the best place to relax. there is also a beach nearby. you can walk down or take a bicycle. The walk is also best part of it. It is very calm and soothing. also whole family can enjoy. swiming pool though it is small, but the location is good. children can really enjoy. Rooms are very spacious and comfortable with balcony overlooking the water stream. Location is good, it is close to the airport. But since it is away from main city, you must hire a cab to go to city. “heavenly experience” Apr 24, 2011 | Trip Type : Couple My husband and I stayed in this beautiful, serene, resort ,which is just ten minutes from the airport. We checked in an executive suite, which had a spacious living room and a separate bedroom. The architecture of the resort is like a goan village amidst natural surroundings, with a stream flowing behind .Our room verandah was overlooking this stream. The whole ambience is beautiful and has a calming effect.A perfect place for a vacation and also business. “in the lap of nature - mountain - sea - forest, all at one place” Apr 1, 2011 | Trip Type : Couple we stayed here for 4 days in 1BHK unit, bedroom and hall both has LCD TV and Balcony was mountains and forest facing. Hall is equipped with good sofa, though Toilet was not big enough but it was overall good. the best thing is its surrounding, Very peaceful and miles away from hustle-bustle of city. and its is close to airport also just 10 minutes drive. uncrowded (rather you can say private) Hollant beach is also 10 min walk. so recommended for nature lovers. Best trip ever Mar 15, 2011 | Trip Type : Couple Had a 5 day trip with my wife in Devasthali Resort . Honestly , expectations weren't very high, after all a very new place for us. Once we reached there , first impression was- Looks good , very conveniently located (Proximity to airport) . First day we were welcomed with bottle of nice wine and delicious cake. Wow Beginning was good, loved the rooms, Neat, clean and luxurious. Went for a nice swim in the morning - in the in-house pool. Came to food, had regular stuff from menu card. In some spare time , went to play snooker. Was joined by Chef and other staff. From second day onwards, just told staff to get us food, without reading the menu, no special instructions were made. The food which we had from second day onwards was divine. Such great was food that we reached resort in time every day. Staff was very very courteous, they were willing to go extra mile whenever you wanted. I remember borrowing some one's bike, just cos I felt like riding. Everyone had that big smile on their face. It was not very professional; it was like going to your own home, where all your close relatives are taking care of each and every demand of yours. Cancelled many sightseeing places, I was enjoying, just being there. At times , didn't step out only. Last day while going back, Clicked many pictures with staff there. Tipped junior staff. Did not tip many people like Chef and managers, Guess why, Cos they were friends. How can someone tip friends. If you are planning Goa, I suggest this place, for making friends , For having experience of life time. A Quiet Retreat Mar 12, 2011 | Trip Type : Friends getaway A gem of quiet beauty, near everything worth seeing in Goa. The food by Chef Patil was worth the trip to India. No sandy beach, but a wonderful sunny pool for rest on days between sightseeing. Great location, super staff, good rooms Mar 5, 2011 | Trip Type : Couples Great place to start or finish your holiday in Goa. Clean, quiet and very close to the airport. Comfortable rooms, good food but most of all superfriendly staff. They even baked me a pineapple birthdaycake after noticing my birthdate while checking in!! Thank you, sweet people from devesthali! Great Potential! Feb 21, 2011 | Trip Type : Family I stayed here with my extended Family, I must say my first impressions of the resort were great. So close to the airport yet so far. The Resort is tucked away in a large coconut plantation area a short walk from Hollant beach. Most reviews I have read so far are accurate. However I would disagree with the reviews on the food at this place. We found the food quite inconsistent, Make no mistake it is plated and presented very well, but falls short on cooking skills and quality. Options are far far away but because we had a car at our disposal we found it convenient to just haul ourselves to Bogmalo beach which is a short drive and has plenty of options for a fraction of the price. However there were days that I would have loved to have spent time in the resort and had food there but was just afraid because of the inconsistency. The Hotel serves a buffet breakfast in their plan, however on the days that there is low guest count, they ask you to choose from the ala-carte breakfast menu, and then try to limit you to some fixed breakfast plan on the menu, fair enough but then allow the guest to choose a liitle from around the breakfast menu for variety. Everytime we made a request that the staff was not programed to reply to even a Bottle of water at breakfast, they would come up with their standard. But thats chargable! I dont think there has to be an issue if the guest asks for a bottle of water especially if your not serving him a buffet breakfast. On the last day we requested the staff to pack us six sandwiches for breakfast for four people, They made a huge issue of this, heck i had to fight for three bottles of water that i requested with the sandwiches. i was told that those would also be chargable. IMHO this is a staff training issue, as on their own they are very pleasent and friendly lot. I saw a couple of guests having arguments with them on this issue as well. All said and done this is a great place to get some peace and quiet from the usual touristy locations in goa and really really has a huge potential to be something special on the Goa map provided the staff does not loose the ultimate aim of the exercise which is hospitality itself. One of the best hotels i have stayed in.......... Feb 17, 2011 | Trip Type : Couple Luxury in the middle of nature yet surprisingly close to the airport and the port town of Vasco harbour.Spacious upscale rooms and excellent food and hospitality. Great value for money, fully satisfied over all. Nice hotel - location great for airport, not so good for anywhere else Jan 24, 2011 | Trip Type : Friends getaway I booked this hotel based on trip advisor reviews, and whilst the hotel was of a good quality overall, there are several factors that I think are helpful to flag when considering where to stay in Goa. ==Rooms== These were clean, comfortable and spacious. We had a plasma tv, a small verandah and tea/coffee making facilities. The bed was large. As you would expect, we were supplied with a bottle of water each morning. On a couple of nights, there was loud music playing in the evenings - it seemed as though a big group was putting on some kind of disco. This didn't really disturb us, but could be a risk if you're a light sleeper/have young children. ==Location== For me, this was the biggest stumbling point and I don't think it was clearly brought out in the other reviews here. First, I should stress that if you want to be close to the airport the location is very good - a 5-10 mins journey so a breeze if you have an early morning flight the next day. Second, there are a couple of beaches close by. I've summarised these further below, and if they sound like where you would like to spend your holiday, the hotel is perfect. However, we wanted either a base to explore Goa or a place near a beach that we could spend a few relaxing days on, and the hotel fits neither of these criteria. On top of that, when staying here, you quickly learn that no Goan taxi drivers have any idea where it is. Our first taxi driver got lost from the airport (yes, the one five minutes away). From every other place we got a taxi, the drivers did not know where the beach was. They either phoned friends or asked other drivers. Finally, we recognised that we had to tell the driver to head towards Bogmalo beach and then direct them to Hollant beach when they were on the road. ==Beaches== Hollant beach, which is the nearest beach, is a small and quiet fishing beach which seems popular with families. The walk to the beach is nice, along a shady path. A torch is essential for the journey back. Bogmalo is the other nearby beach (reached by a complimentary shuttle from the hotel). This beach is larger than Hollant, but still not big. There are a handful of western tourists on the beach. We (two girls) received quite a lot of hassle from the local men who would walk past in groups and (covertly?!) take photographs. Others would walk around in circles around us. Clearly, the behaviour of the locals is not controlled by the hotel, but I would advise other travellers to bear it in mind when considering where to be based. We had no hassle at all at some other beaches such as Anjuna or Mandrem and if you are looking to sunbathe I would recommend going further afield to them for a more restful experience. ==Pool== Now I should briefly cover the pool. It seemed to be quite lively, and popular with families. It has a baby section, and a main bit, which is perfectly good for messing around in, but quite small. Definitely no laps! ==Staff== Staff were pleasant. We forgot our adapter and asked if they might have one, and were told that maintenance may have one and they would let us know. We didn't hear anything, and asked them again a couple of times. Eventually, we just bought a replacement ourselves. ==Other points== Quite disappointing that there was no free wi-fi. I know that many hotels haven't yet caught on, but it would be nice to see it. ==Overall== We liked the hotel itself, and for people who want to spend their whole holiday in the hotel by the pool, or walking to the nearby beach, this hotel is very good. However, we found that it was expensive as a base due to having to take taxis to any other beach, and thus represented bad value for us overall. Devasthali- A World of its Own! Jan 7, 2011 | Trip Type : Friends getaway I went to Devasthali with my family and friends for new years 2011. I was visiting Goa after a very long time and found Devasthali to be a refreshing change from the done resorts and hotels in Goa. The property uses its lush green surroundings to integrate it within the design of the hotel. One gets an opportunity to interact with nature at a personal level. With several activities like swimming, cycling and pool along with the ever favourite pass time of eating, Devasthali offered a complete vacation within its premises. I would like to give a special mention to the in house bakery which produces excellent cakes and sweet breads. Over all Devasthali provided us with a balanced value for money, time and vacation. The place is just romantic, clean, private and the best !!! Dec 1, 2010 | Trip Type : Couples, Family Me, my husband and our one year old son went to a 4 days trip to GOA. As our baby is too small, we wanted a clean and comfortable place where there is not too noise and crowdy outdoor. There we got the right place - Devasthali. The interior should really be appreciated and the room service is excellent. This review will not be completed if I did not write about the food. We were exploring every dish per meal. The location of the restaurant is just near the stream of water where fishes just jump... It is the most comfortable place we have stayed till now :) We would greatly greatly recomnmend this place !!! Devasthali is simply Beautiful! Dec 1, 2010 | Trip Type : Friends getaway My trip to Goa was short and sweet to celebrate the New Years Eve with my closest friends. Stay at Devasthali made it just perfect. Its a place where once you check-in rest is all taken care of. Staff is very courteous and well trained. Property is beautifully designed inside and outside - contemperory in every sense yet in total synch with old Goan architecture - attractive, functional, cosy and compfortable. Pool and Restaurant were our favourite spots to hangout. Food is amazing. Besides peaceful surroundings with Fresh Water Stream and fields of Coconut Trees adjacent to it, quick accessability to airport, nearby beach and hotel cars to take you to anywhere in Goa makes it the best place to stay in Goa. Manjrie. New Jersey. Mmmmmmmm - Devasthali! Nov 14, 2010 | Trip Type : Couples I've been to Goa umpteen no. of times & stayed at 5* hotels but the last 2 trips I stayed at this resort called Devastali recommended by my friends was what made going to Goa worthwhile :) 5 mins from the airport, I was in this beautiful resort surrounded by pretty, well tended plants. Baggage n rooms allocated in a jiffy while I had a welcome drink. The rooms were spacious & tastefuly done with kitchenette. Extremely comfortable bed. Well maintained by the courteous staff. A Must Mention - Beautiful high ceilings!! Dont have that often in hotels anymore! The view from the rooms is breathtaking! Coconut groves & a stream running. There were people feeding the fish & the serenity of the place beat any other stay in Goa! It felt like I was in the middle of a story book setting. Beauuuutiful!!!!! In all my travel, I've never seen a Dinner layout like the one Devasthali had on New Yr's Eve. It was simply outstanding. The staff outdid themselves and the proud look on their faces when we went around clicking pics of the spread was a start to a lovely evening. Superb Band music & in the wee hours, guests from all different walks of life were singing laughing n having a gala time together. All in all a Devasthali gave us a Great beginning to this New Year.Truly the valley of gods Nov 12, 2010 | Trip Type : Family Devasthali is a perfect place to be if you want a get away from the maddening city life. It has a lush green coconut grove right across and in the middle is a natural spring with tiny fishes in it...while i enjoyed my sumptuous meals i would always like to share a bite or two with my friends in water. I went during the monsoon and trust me never had i enjoyed the rains more...Me and my family would spend a lot of quality time in the cozy rooms and our evenings would be by the pool side with drinks and snacks. I would like to share my father's experience ie. in the evening, while he floated in the pool he would just stare at the starry sky n would enjoy looking at the tall trees merging into the sky. It's beautiful. Awaiting my next trip now. |
